What's in it
As a natural source of protein and fiber with many vitamins, nutrients and unsaturated fatty acids, it becomes a real superfood. Our patties seduce with their nutty touch. In tune with the valuable plant proteins, which are also included, you can experience the savory taste of a Veggi burger with a tart and exotic note.
The origin and processing of our Buffaloworms
The Buffalo worms (Alphitobius diaperinus) contained in our Insect Flour are ground freeze-dried insects. To do this, the worms are first gently killed by slowly cooling them down. They fall asleep and die as they do in nature, lowering their temperature.
Our worms are controlled in Europe and bred according to organic food standards specifically for human consumption. Without exception, we work together with selected European breeders who optimally maintain the worms. The insects are grown on pure vegetable and GMP + certified materials (certified food processing), without the use of hormones, antibiotics and chemicals. Breeding is done in an appropriate manner. This means that it is natural for the animals to exist in a small space. That's why this is no factory farming. The rearing takes four to six weeks. For a burger, about 500 early-stage worms are finely chopped.
For the environment gently and sustainably the breeding of the buffalo worms 15,000 x less water consumes than e.g. in cattle breeding. There are 100 x less emissions, 4 x less feed consumption and 12.5 x less land consumption.
